Give Autumn/Winter 2011/12 The Boot With Stunning Women's Shoes

By Frida Jones

With autumn looming and the promise of colder weather, boots have sauntered back onto the scene, Mod designs are back with a bang in knee-high boots, go gender-neutral with ankle-high footwear or embrace the biker within with calf-length boots, whatever your preference there's a boot to suit.

Women's designer footwear is well equipped for not only the change in weather but also ready for any occasion, with boots ranging from everyday casual to night-time formal. The ankle boot easily adapts to a range of formalities and ensembles this autumn. London label Pointer take on prep-chic in their ankle boot that allows any fashion conscience woman to brace the weather with flare in sumptuously warm Caz boots with fur lining, or defy the elements with the practical but pretty and completely waterproof Farai boots or relax in style with the soft suede of their KC's design. Sneaker meets ankle boot in Tokyo by Jimmy Choo, classic suede combines with racy leopard pattern or go for the bold brassy leather of Miu Miu's high top boots.

Androgynous styles are met in ankle boots by the progressive Danish label, Won Hundred, who capture the season vibe to perfection with their leather Day Boots that have a mannish cut but contrast with a suede toe and almost 5in block heel to set them apart. In addition, Bertie adds buttons to stand out with its Palare and YMC get regimental with their fleece-lined Military Boots. The quality shines through in Chelsea boots with American designer Mark McNairy's waxed suede version presenting a more laid-back style while the hand-made Swedish Hasbeens bring their renowned comfort and longevity to their variation by adding traditional stitching, leather and a 3.5in wooden heel.

Ankle boots also ooze elegance thanks to Parisian designs of Sessun, in neutral colours and bold block heel in the Robson boot they add a touch of class to any ensemble whatever the occasion. Nicholas Kirkwood uncovers the platform in suede with a block heel in matted black, or for a spruce of colour try Kat Maconie's collection ranging from the Dolly and Valentina to the luxurious velvet of the Laura's.

Calf-high boots come in all style including the ever-popular biker look, a winning combination with boots adorned with chains, zip detail and buckles helping them to accessorise your feet. Good examples of this trend come from Miu Miu with their calf suede biker boot with two buckles, from Ash in studded biker wear and from Air Step's Saint combining buttons and a leather fold-over cuff for grunge-chic footwear. UGG Australia makes the boot a little more feminine in calf-high lamb suede boots in chocolate with 'Josie', try a midnight blue in velvet from Alaa or belted suede from Beau Coops Ildiko in three quarter boots with a wedged sole.

Rocking the knee-highs, Jimmy Choo never fails to please with his waxed suede Doreen boots and celebrity favourite Fiorentini & Baker's simply classic Rabbit Multi Buckle Boots continue to work it in both winter and summer, making all these boots not just made for walking, but happily accompanying skinny jeans and leggings for a classic winter trend. Knee-highs suited to evening wear include Michel Vivien's gracefully simplistic Glasglow, Le Silla's slimline stiletto heel and Tory Burch's Selma platform boots.

With a wide variety of shapes and styles in the upcoming and prominent season trend of boots in women's designer fashion; you'll be certain to step out in style this autumn/winter.
