What Accessories to Wear On Your Wedding Day

By Morgan Burgess

A wedding day is the most special day in a bride's life. She must cherish every wedding day-moment for the rest of her life and therefore it is important she feels good and looks good on the big day. Getting a wedding gown that fits well and looks terrific is easy - the problem is choosing the accessories. Accessories can make the bride bring out her style - old world, modern, bohemian chic, retro, etc. Here is how wedding accessories - veil, wedding day jewellery, gloves, hat, etc. - must be chosen:

1. Comfortable shoes that go with the wedding gown, or with other accessories like flowers or the hand bag, should be chosen. White, though, is the preferred colour as it blends in with the gown. Pumps are the most preferred wedding shoes, followed by sandals, flats and boots (during winter).

2. The lingerie is important as well. It must be attractive, bring out the best and conceal the flaws. Bold and vivid colours are preferred by many brides. Satin, lace and silk are the fabrics of choice.
3. A tiara, which is an important component of wedding jewellery, makes the bride look very elegant and chic - just like a princess. The tiara must complement the face shape though.

4. The veil should match the wedding gown and the hat, if the bride is wearing one. Veils look formal and add to the elegance and grace of the occasion.

5. The bride must deck her hair with flowers if her dress does not have any, or has only a few. Again, flowers must match or pleasantly contrast the wedding gown or the accessories.

6. Wedding day jewellery is a must - it is beautiful, elegant and chic. Most brides choose pearl necklaces because they are beautiful, yet understated (non-flashy). Any chosen jewellery must match the skin tone and gown, and complement the hairstyle. The wedding jewellery must fit perfectly as well and reflect the bride's personality. However, the bride must avoid very elaborate and complicated jewellery and stick to the simple sets. There is one exception to the 'be simple' rule, though: If the bride is wearing a bold and daring wedding gown, she should choose spectacular-looking jewellery that's quite out of the ordinary.

7. Handbags and gloves must blend in well with the wedding gown. Their style must match that of the wedding gowns. So, if the wedding gown is simple, the handbag should be slightly rounded, and so on. Gloves can add to the bride's elegance so long they match the gown's style and colour.
