Learning How To Clean Your Silver Jewellery

By Sam Jones

After a certain amount of time, certain types of silver jewellery may begin to tarnish. Signs of tarnishing material tends to be a dark and dull coating that takes away from the normal shine of jewelry. The sight of this is horrible but if you assemble the proper materials you can easily get rid of it.

If you learn the basics and get the proper supplies you can clean your pieces of silver in a very little time for more than one usage. To begin you will need to have a few items to get started with the cleaning process. The 5 main items that you will need are warm running water, mild dish soap or liquid Castile soap, baking soda and two lint free soft clothes.

The can be either made of microfiber material or the can be totally made of cotton. When you begin you will need to mix at least 6 drops of mild soap in warm water to get a lather going. After this you can wet one of your towels and proceed to wash over the tarnished material.

When you have carefully wiped over the entire surface you can rinse with cool water afterward. You can then buff it with remaining dry lint free towel or cloth. It can be done by using one of the two materials listed earlier.

If there are any signs of tarnish that remain you can mix equal part of warm water and baking soda. You can also use the same method for jewelry that is heavily tarnished also. The mixture that comes from the baking soda and warm water will be almost paste like in appearance and you can use this for further cleaning as well.

You can use a fresh cloth to part and spread the past in tarnish prone areas and then when you have finished removing the tarnish you can rinse the jewelry with cool water again.
