Diamond Jeweler to Give Away a Free Diamond Ring to Deserving Military Member

By Sachin Kumar Airan

On September 11, 2001, Scott Anderson opened a little diamond shop in Atlanta, Georgia. He was devastated to hear the news not too far off in New York, the same day that his shop opened. On the tenth anniversary of opening his shop, his partner and he have decided to offer a free diamond ring to a deserving military soldier, preferably one that has little funds but wants to surprise the love of their life with an Ashoka diamond. Scott feels that every military soldier is deserving, risking their lives each day for their country. However, as a special tribute, he feels that giving a diamond away would be the extra special thing that would help put his small business on the map and help make someone's dream come true.

This native Englishman is currently looking for nominees of deserving soldiers, male or female to enter into the drawing. He wants to present the ring to the deserving serviceman or woman before Christmas. Scott says that he is looking doe someone that has really gone above and beyond, someone that has a heroic story to share of how they served their country and helped out a favorite person of theirs. Scott moved to the United States and became a citizen in the 1980's. He says that he was shaken by the events of September 11, 2001 and he remembers it every day he walks into his shop as it has a special memory to him as this was the opening day of his store. Scott says that he would love to see the Ashoka go to a serviceman that is just starting off, someone that doesn't have a lot of money but has a lot of love and heart, just like he did when he started his diamond jewelry business.

The way that this raffle is going to work, anyone can send a nomination along with a story of why they think this past or present U.S. Military serviceman is deserving of the Ashoka ring. Once the stories start coming in, they will be available on the website and anyone that wants to can vote on the one that they like best by leaving a comment under the story. Each person is allowed one vote per day. The drawing will end December 1, 2011.

The winner will be announced on the website and then just before Christmas, Scott will go to the serviceman's town or city to present them with the ring. There will be a speech as to why he did this raffle, and why this serviceman was chosen above all others. The ring will be presented and they will have a small gathering afterwards.

Scott feels that this is the best thing that he can do, as a non-native citizen to show his loyalty and support for the U.S. Military. He hopes that by doing this raffle, and being a non-native American citizen, he can show that not all are hostile toward Americans and that some really do care.
